Rolfing® Structural Integration

Rolfing® Structural Integration

Treating Pain, Injury, Restriction, and Structural Dysfunction.
Restoring Mobility, Structural Balance, and Function.

Rolfing® Structural Integration is a systematic form of hands-on structural bodywork developed by Dr. Ida P. Rolf.

It works directly with the fascia and the structural relationships of the body to release restrictions, reduce unnecessary tension and compression, restore movement, and improve the way the body organizes itself in gravity.

Most people come to me when something hurts, something has been injured, or something no longer moves the way it should.

Four Paths Through the Work

The Rolfing® pages below carry the detailed anatomy, clinical applications, whole-body series, and performance work. This page remains the overview of Rolfing® Structural Integration at Valeo.

Connective Tissue

What Is Fascia?

Fascia is the continuous connective-tissue network Rolfing® works with. Understanding how restriction travels through this network helps explain why pain and limitation often involve more than the place where symptoms are felt.

Focused Structural Work

Pain & Injury Treatment

Focused Rolfing® work for pain, injury, nerve impingements, restricted movement, and structural problems. This section also addresses circumstances in which people may wish to explore modifiable structural factors before surgery.

Your Rolfing® Session

Your Rolfing® Session

Your first appointment allows up to 90 minutes so that we can discuss your history, examine the problem, assess posture and movement, and begin the work.

Subsequent Rolfing® sessions are approximately 75 minutes.

Treatment is highly interactive. I may have you stand, walk, move a joint, or change position during the session so that we can evaluate changes as they occur.

For a specific pain, injury, or restriction, we work according to the needs of the problem. There is no required series of sessions.

For whole-body Structural Integration, we can undertake the Ten Series.
